According to a research conducted by Jazerah.net in 13 countries in the MENA region, the total amount of Facebook users had increased to over 11 million in February 2010.
- Egypt: 2. 714. 328
- SA: 1. 724. 871
- Morocco: 1. 374. 471
- UAE: 1. 294. 531
- Tunisia: 1. 208. 271
- Lebanon: 770. 231
- Jordan: 714. 691
- Kuwait: 396. 671
- Qatar: 285. 171
- Palestine: 235. 891
- Bahrain: 181. 991
- Iraq: 136. 711
- Oman: 112. 391
54% of the Facebook users in the MENA region are 19 – 29 years old, 21% are 30-45 years old, 19% are under 18 (teenagers), 4% are 46-64 years old and only 2% are 65+ years old. Males use the platform more than females in all age groups, especially in the oldest ones. Even if the main language in the MENA is Arabic, only 20% use it in Facebook. Main Facebook language is English with 56% and 21% of the users prefer French.
English language surpassing the Arabic in countries where users are known to prefer using Arabic in the Internet is quite surprising. It could be due to two reasons: expats and the fact Facebook was in English before Arabic so users already got used to it and did not want to change.
It is good to take the age & language split in consideration when creating a Facebook campaign in these countries.
It cool article an your site is quite resource full to tack care
